In close collaboration with The Boeing Company, Ampex developed a next generation recorder to support the certification of Boeing's industry-leading 7x7 airliners.

By selecting the DSRs 440 as the platform on which their next-generation "network-centric" recording system is built, Boeing is able to optimize the recording media to the planned flight test profile, so that the media cost associated with a given test can be matched to the environmental conditions of that test. The architecture of the recording system also supports multiple recorders for redundancy and collecting data for different groups of consumers on the ground.
