Reporting to the AMPEX Vice President and General Manager, the Contracts Manager (CM) is responsible for developing and administering contracts and subcontract agreements with limited guidance. The contracts manager will track, create, and maintain contract data requirements, activity logs, and deliverables. CM provides expert advice, and administration of federal government, Commercial OEM contracts and Subcontracts of varying size and complexity, and displays a thorough working knowledge of the FAR/DFAR, and the ability to interact with customers and lead contract negotiations. Additionally, the CM is responsible leading the development and production of all Ampex responses to Request for Information (RFI), Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates and Request for Proposal (RFP) for Customer solicitations. This position is located at our Headquarters in Hayward, California.

Essential Functions:

  • Administer assigned contracts for Sales and Program Managers. Work closely with Operations, Engineering, and Finance on a daily basis to ensure contractual actions, including proposals with the Sales and Production team are delivered on time. You are responsible for supporting our sales growth, program execution providing strong customer facing contacts and supporting a customer first attitude.
  • Daily administration of Government contracts and prime contractor issued subcontracts of various types and complexity, to include FFP, T&M, CPFF, IDIQs, etc. Accurate, timely reporting is critical.
  • Review of contractual documents and negotiation of terms and conditions. Analyzes contractual requirements, special provisions, terms and conditions to ensure compliance with appropriate laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures. Attention to detail and a balance of accuracy and timeliness are key behaviors.
  • Manage/lead a multi discipline team in the development and production of Proposals including the Management, Technical and Cost volumes.
  • Proficient in authoring Proposals including the Management and Cost volumes.
  • Communicates contract policy and practice to internal business teams. Provides expert support services to AMPEX including, but not limited to, the application of contract clauses, regulations, data rights, intellectual property rights, Buy American Act, Trade Agreement Act, and other laws.
  • Prepares Non-Disclosure Agreements, Teaming Agreements and other company agreements.
  • Supervises one Contracts Administrator Offsite.


  • 5+ Years of hands on Contracts and 3 + Years Proposal Manager Experience
  • Bachelor of Science
  • Demonstrated track record of winning proposals.
  • Excellent attention to detail as well as managing multiple proposals and meeting all deadlines.
  • Possessed a US Secret Clearance within the last 5 years- verifiable in JPASS.
